Be a team player – George Lamptey tells Blessing

Liberty Professionals head coach, George Lamptey has told Latif Blessing to be a team player to realise his true potential.

The diminutive 18-year-old has had a blistering start to the season, having already scored five times. He followed up his brace against Ashanti Gold with another goal against Kotoko in their 3-1 loss on Sunday.

However, the goal was about the only impressive output about Blessing’s game against the Porcupine Warriors, who made him a passenger.

Coach Lamptey believes he paid too much attention to his tricks and flicks to the detriment of the team and has urged him to play for the team.

“He overdid things. As skillful as he is, he has to contribute to team play so we all can benefit from his play,” coach Lamptey said after the Kotoko game.

“Because of his skill, he’s always a target. I tell him all the time to watch Messi. Messi is very skillful, but he doesn’t keep the ball all to himself. He plays neat one-two passes. Blessing needs to play like that.
