Beach Soccer Congress postponed due to venues inspection

The Ghana Beach Soccer Association (GBSA) has disclosed that their congress which was slated for Friday 23rd June has been postponed to Friday, 30th June, 2017.

The extraordinary congress will see the association deliberate on fixtures and accredited venues for the upcoming season.

In addition, new sponsors and partners plus other key issues would have to be resolved ahead of Congress.

Meanwhile, the ongoing venues inspection in the four regions is halfway completed and would be endorsed following submission of technical report to the executive ahead of congress next week.

George Darko, a member of the venues inspection team confirmed to ghanaweb that the report would be ready before Congress.

"We are currently halfway through inspecting potential venues for the upcoming season so we appealed to the executive for an extension in order to conclude and present something concrete".

Mr Darko denied that the inspection was taking too long.

"Not at all. In fact it is important that we finish with the inspection so that when we go to congress, we can brief the clubs on what we saw during the inspection and new guidelines pertaining to venue requirements"

The GBSA also expressed appreciation to Takoradi based Melody FM for sponsoring their trip and their stay in the "Oil City".

Melody FM sponsored the flights of the inspection team and provided accommodation, feeding and logistics.

The inspection is expected back in Accra on Wednesday have successfully completed inspections in the Central and Western regions.

They are expected to begin inspection in the capital on Thursday before a trip to the Volta region to conclude the inspection process.
