Benjamin Tetteh upbeat ahead of AYC

Black Satellites striker Benjamin Tetteh looks forward to helping Ghana win the upcoming African Youth Championship in Senegal.

The 17-year-old Dreams FC forward was in fantastic form during the qualifiers and warm-up matches played in Ghana and Turkey, and hopes to do better at the finals, which kicks off on March 8.

“It is a dream come true to be part of this wonderful squad. The main motive of any footballer is to represent his country in a major tournament and I’m happy to make the final 23 for the African Youth Championship,” Tetteh told Goal Ghana on Sunday.

“I will do my best to bang in the goals with support from my colleagues to help Ghana win the trophy for the fourth time. I know it will not be easy because youth football has now developed in Africa,” he said.

Tetteh has had successful trials with German side Borussia Moenchengladbach and Spanish champions Atletico Madrid in the winter and is likely to sign for one of them when he attains the age of 18.

Ghana are pitted against South Africa, Mali and Zambia in Group B of the African Youth Championship and will open campaign against the Amajita at the Caroline Faye Stadium in M'Bour on March 9.
