A scintillating performance by Aduana Stars FC enabled them to record a 2-1 victory over Berekum Chelsea FC at the Osagyefo Agyemang-Badu II Sports Sadium at Dormaa-Ahenkro on Sunday.

Winger Bright Agyei sent the stadium agog with the fans of the home jubilating wildy after finding the net for the "Ogya" boys in the 24th minute.

Within two minutes of play, Striker Derreck Sasraku quickly capitalised on a defensive mix-up and double the scoreline for Aduana Stars in the 26th minute.

The highly patronised match was organised by the Ghana Football Association with support from the Patron of Aduana Stars to coronate the 2016/2017 Ghana Premier league (GPL) champions.

After recess, Chelsea FC exhibited brilliant performance and mounted pressure on the homesters.

In the 51st minute, Striker Stephen Baffour took advantage of a defensive mix up by All Star's and scored a consolation goal for Chelsea.

Both clubs put up a brilliant performance in the latter parts of the game but were not able to convert the chances that came their way until the referee ended the game.

Among the dignitaries who watched the match are Dr Kwaku Agyemang-Manu, Health Minister, Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, General Secretary of the NDC, Mr George Kwasi Afriyie, the Vice President of the GFA and Alhaji Collins Dauda, Member of Parliament for Asunafo South constituency. Others included traditional rulers, former and present District and Municipal Chief Executives, Mr Cudjoe Fianu, GHALCA Chair and football enthusiasts from all walks of life.

The match was officiated by referee Yaw Abetepe.Dr Agyemang-Manu, the Health Minister, later presented the 2016/2017 GPL cup to Aduana Stars FC.He commended the Stars for their good performance and hoped that they would avoid complacency and display such performance when they represent the country in the Confederation Cup.
