Ghana international, Bernard Tekpetey, and his friends turned up at the University of Ghana Athletic Oval on Saturday, June 15, to donate blood in support of the National Blood Bank

The event was organized by the Bernard Tekpetey Foundation in collaboration with the National Blood Bank to address the critical shortage of blood that has led to preventable losses of life.

Tekpetey, moved by a past crisis where the lack of blood had dire consequences, initiated the drive with the support of the CEO of the National Blood Service.

The footballer's aim was to rally the community to save lives and make a significant impact.

"You might not know who you are saving – it could be your mother, father, sister, or brother. You have no idea, but when you come on board and donate your blood to support someone, the reward will definitely be great. God will bless you. We are just human, and we are here to pave the way. I will also donate blood," Tekpetey remarked, emphasizing the importance of donating blood.

The event also featured personalities like David Atanga, Comedian Warris, and Keche Joshua, who showed their support for the cause.

Evelyn Arthur of the Evelyn Arthur Health Foundation highlighted the need for regular donations, noting that individuals can donate blood every three months to replenish the National Blood Bank's supplies.

The Bernard Tekpetey Foundation has been active in social contributions, and this blood donation exercise is one of many projects aimed at giving back to the community.

Tekpetey's performance had a stellar performance last season for Ludgorets scoring 10 goals and five assists in the 2023/24 season, leading his team to victory in the Bulgarian league and domestic cup.
