Ghanaian footballer Bernard Tekpetey has made a passionate appeal to Ghanaians to turn up in large numbers and help make the blood donation exercise, which will be held by his foundation on Saturday, June 15, a success.

The Bernard Tekpetey Foundation is collaborating with the National Blood Service Ghana, the Nana Tea Foundation, and the Evelyn Arthur Foundation to stage a significant blood donation exercise at the University of Ghana.

The event, to be held at the Athletic Oval of the University of Ghana, is expected to attract Ghanaian musicians and footballers who will not only participate in the event but also spend quality time with the donors.

GhanaWeb understands that the music group Keche will donate and also perform at the event, with Black Stars captain Thomas Partey leading a host of Ghanaian footballers in attendance.

In an interview with GhanaWeb, Bernard Tekpetey urged the public to flock to the Athletic Oval of the University of Ghana in large numbers to help make the event a success.

Tekpetey promised a variety of exciting activities and giveaways that will make the event memorable for donors.

"We are pleading with Ghanaians to turn out in large numbers to donate blood and help save lives. We need to assist people because there is a shortage of blood in the system. Although it’s a donation exercise, we are going to make things lively and enjoyable, so I’m expecting everyone to come.

"We are urging Ghanaians to come on board and help save lives. We are making it open to anyone at any time. We will plead with Ghanaians to come in large numbers and help. We want to save lives and assist people," Tekpetey said.
