Betting is evil and it must merit higher tax – Kofi Akpaloo

Kofi Akpaloo, the presidential candidate and founder of the Liberal Progressive Party (LPG), has disapproved of betting, describing it as “evil.” Akpaloo’s standpoint on betting has sparked a heated debate on social media, with many Ghanaians expressing their opinions on the matter.

In an interview on Starr Today with Efia Tutuwaa Danso, Akpaloo called for an increase in the Betting Tax to prevent the youth from engaging in the activity. He argued that the increased tax would serve as a deterrent to the youth, who are increasingly turning to betting as a means of livelihood.

“I believe that betting is evil, and we should do everything possible to discourage our youth from engaging in it,” Akpaloo said.

He highlighted the need for alternative sources of income for the youth, promising to create more jobs if elected into office.

Akpaloo’s proposal to increase the Betting Tax is aimed at reducing reliance on betting as a source of income. He believes that by creating more job opportunities, the youth will be less inclined to engage in betting.

The presidential aspirant’s comments on betting have stirred a national conversation on the issue. As the election season heats up, Akpaloo’s stance on betting is likely to be a key issue on the campaign trail.
