Black Bombers Coach not sacked by me – Gideon Quartey

The President of the Ghana Boxing Federation (GABF) Gideon Quartey wishes to thank all who have supported him and his new executive during and after the last Congress and Election.
He expressed gratitude to all stakeholders of amateur boxing and the sports media who have helped in the development and promotion of the sport over the years.
He noted that the justification exercise into the National Team ended two weeks ago and the selected national boxers have started a non residential camping at the Seconds-Out Gym, near the Baiden Powers Hall from 7:00am - 9:00am every week, under the supervision of the Technical Officials.
He urged the media to visit and inspire the team as the prepare for the All African Games in September.
“The media is invited to watch our training, and you can do some interviews to help in monitoring their progress, and very soon they will be in competitive competition to monitor their standard” he said..
“Also very important to issues which I have answered to number of times is the Coach Asare matter, I keep saying; I or we have not sack him since we have not employ or engaged him, he is a staff of NSA, I have no power to sack him. The Technical Committee formed to look at the sport level for the past years came with the three member Team to look after the selected team for the All Africa Games while they work on who to appoint. And all this in-consultation with NSA.
The second point of the Star Matter, that he has more star so he should be there. Is another subject. Let me quote from recent changes from AIBA - Quote- The new Management System for Coaches was also adopted which requires 1-star coaches or above for 1-star events, 2-star coaches or above for 2-star events and only 3-star coaches for 3-star events. A grace period until December 2012 is granted to allow lower star-rated coaches to perform as a second in a higher level event if a National Federation does not have sufficient coaches at the required level” he expressed.
The GABF President said they are in consultation with AIBA management System to grade all our coaches and Officials in all regional Capitals in Ghana starting this year 2015
