Black Maidens captain Abdulai Mukarama has apologized to Ghanaians following her side's failure to reach the finals of the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup in Uruguay.
The Black Maidens were one of the best team at the World Cup, winning all three games in their group and were tipped as favourite to win the global showpiece.
But Ghana were booted out of the competition after a 4-2 penalty defeat to Mexico in the quarter finals.
"I am very disappointed because we set our aim to reach the finals, we wanted to set a record no one has set before," she said on the team's arrival.
"Qualifying from the group stages, winning all our matches in the group, topping the group and then we wanted to reach the finals but it didn't happen," she added.
"I want to say sorry to Ghanaians because we couldn't get to where I promised them but we want them to keep supporting us so we go to the U-20 and to the senior team."
