Black Meteors coach Ibrahim Tanko to join team this week

Information gathered by Finder Sports indicates that head coach of the Black Meteors, Ibrahim Tanko will be arriving from his tour abroad this week to take charge of the national U-23 side as they prepare for their AFCON U-23 qualifier against Gabon on March 23-26, 2019.

Tanko who doubles as the assistant head coach of the Black Stars was on an assignment abroad, monitoring and scouting players for the senior national team as they begin preparations for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.

The trip abroad according to our sources was also to invite new players for Ghana’s upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Kenya on March 22, 2019.

Meanwhile, 24 players are already in the camp of Black Meteors as they begin preparations for the game. The players called are all locally based.

Michael Osei who is assistant to Tanko is currently in charge of the team.
According to him, the technical team will announce the second batch of players to join the team before the final squad for the qualifier will be selected.

Finder Sports understands that the coach will also invite some foreign players to augment his squad ahead of the game.

The game will be played at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Black Meteors eliminated Togo in the first qualifying round by a 5-2 aggregate scoreline in both legs.
