Lagos - The Black Queens of Ghana, that lost 1-2 to their Nigerian counterparts, the Falcons, flew out of Lagos this morning to France in continuation of their build-up to the female World Cup kicking off June in America.
The team which paraded 18 players and officials, according to coach Emmanuel Kwasi, was leaving early enough to prepare properly for the mundial. "We are not leaving anything to chance," the sweat merchant said, vowing that "we will not disappoint our fans. We want to make them proud."
The Ghanaian team had in the first lap of their preparation for the World Cup been to China where they played two friendlies in the Asian country noted to be one of the best in the world presently.
"We played two matches against the Chinese national team and lost 1-2 on both occasions," the coach told P.M. Sport, but was quick to add that "it was an experience which we hope to bring to bear on our opponents during the championship proper." He was not too bothered about the loss to the Falcons, saying rather satisfactorily: "You noticed that we did most of the attacking. I am happy with the way our girls played except for one or two lapses, I believe we could have done better."
In France, P.M. Sport gathered, the team has lined up a number of friendlies aimed at keeping the team in good shape before the championship. "We are not going to America to play a second fiddle to any country," Coach Kwasi vowed.
