Black Queens coach rues missed chances in Algeria defeat

Black Queens coach Yusif Basigi has bemoaned his side’s profligacy after an opening 1-0 defeat to Algeria on Sunday in the African Women’s Championship.

Ghana squandered a lot of scoring chances and conceded a late goal.

Horiya Affak scored the winners three minutes from time as ‘Les Fennecs Dames’ cruised to a historic win.

It was the first time Ghana had lost an opening match in the history of the championship.

“We came with an intention to win. Unfortunately, we had so many chances that we could have converted,” Basigi told www.cafonline.com

“The players were desperate and in a rush to score and as a result we missed those chances.

“Football is full of uncertainties. We still have two matches to play. The Algeria game is over.”
