The national U-20 team, the Black Satellites will hold a two-week camping in Qatar as part of their preparations towards the FIFA U-20 World Cup slated for Egypt this year.

The Satellites will train at the globally acclaimed ‘Aspire Football Academy’ in Doha, Qatar from September 1 to September 15, 2009.

Kwesi Nyantakyi, President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) who announced this during the media launch of the ‘Aspire Football Dreams 2009’ on Wednesday, said the exercise is to afford the Satellites an conducive atmosphere to fine-tune their preparations for the September 24 to October 16 Championships.

He said the training exercise, which is at no cost to the GFA was made possible courtesy their collaboration with ‘Aspire Football Dreams’ Ghana and their Qatari counterparts. “The Satellites will camp and use the facilities at Aspire Academy free of charge.”

The two-week camping is expected to serve good news to the Black Satellites technical team, as their preparations for the global championships has been less competitive so far.

Whilst in Qatar, the Satellites will pitch their strength against some clubs in readiness for the world Championship.

Myantakyi added that the Satellites will later move to Tunisia for acclimatization before leaving for Egypt.

The Satellites, the reigning African champions are housed in Group D alongside England, Uruguay and Uzbekistan for the three week Championship. The Satellites will open their campaign against Uzbekistan on September 29; play England three days later before warping up against Uruguay on October 2. The Satellites are seeking to become the first African side to win the biennial championship since its inception in 1977. GNA
