Black Satellites victory vindicates Dr Nkrumah

Koforidua, Oct. 20, GNA - The 2008 Parliamentary candidate of the Convention People's Party (CPP) for the Aburi/Nsawam Constituency, Mr Isaac Opare-Addo has noted that the celebrations of the Satellites victory over Brazil was a special feat that needs commendation.

Mr Opare-Addo said it was special because it was the first time that an African country guided by an African football coach has been able to conquer the world in soccer.

Explaining the reasons for his special celebration of the victory of the Black Satellites, he said the victory of coach Sellas Tetteh with the Black Satellites confirmed Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah's prediction that given the opportunity, the Blackman was capable of managing his own affairs and to do it even better.

Mr Opare-Addo was speaking to the GNA Sports in Koforidua explained that he joined the jubilant crowd who filled the streets of Municipality after the match to celebrate the victory of the Black Satellites over their Brazilian counterparts in the World Under 20 Soccer Tournament in Egypt at the weekend.

The Black Satellites won the final match 4-3 on penalty against Brazil after settling to a goalless draw match after 120 minutes of play including extra time.

Mr Opare-Addo said even though Ghana had won many soccer trophies on the African Continent and the world soccer stage with Ghanaian coaches soccer administrators in the country have refused to give them their due recognition.

He said that despite all that the local coaches have achieved, "We continue to mistrust each other and our ability as a people to be in-charge of our own affairs and rather look outside for support even when there is evidence that we can do it." "Let us celebrate our achievers, trust in the ability of the Ghanaian to make it like any other citizen of the world, call ourselves to order when we are going wrong and together we could make it". He congratulated Coach Sellas Tetteh, the technical team and the playing body of the Satellites for lifting the flag of Ghana high on the world stage and making the whole of Africa proud. 20 Oct. 09
