Black Sharks draw top seed Senegal in beach soccer AFCON

The draw for the maiden African Cup of Nations Beach Soccer Tournament has been made at Caf headquarters in Cairo, Egypt.

Group A will feature hosts Seychelles, Nigeria, Egypt and Ivory Coast. ln group B, Ghana will be up against number one ranked Senegal, Morocco and rising beach soccer nation Madagascar. The Black Sharks have previously lost to each of their group opponents. Therefore experience would suggest that reigning African champions Senegal and North African contenders Morocco would be favourites to advance from group B.

However, Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, the man largely credited with the rise of the sport in Ghana is happy with the draw and believes that the Sharks are primed to bite and chew a giant or two in Seychelles.

"It's a tough draw, whether we had Ivory Coast, Egypt or any other team, it would have equally been tough. I have spoken to the coaches and they are quite happy but not complacent because we have lost to all this teams in the past."

"We will go into the competition with the view of upsetting the big boys," he added.

The winner of the tournament will represent Africa at the World cup in Portugal.
