Former Ghana international Bernard Dada Don Bortey believes the Black Stars B’s failure to clinch qualification to 2018 CHAN tournament was the players refusal to question their unusual roles assigned by coach Maxwell Konadu.
The local based senior national team succumbed to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of the Stallions of Burkina Faso in the second leg of the qualifiers at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium following playing out a 2-2 stalemate in Ouagadougou last week.
According to Bortey the Stars shambolic display against the Burkinabes was as a result of coach Maxwell Konadu wrongly placing players in different roles.
“These are the best players we have in the league so why should we fail. The players should have questioned some of the roles they were assigned to because most of the players were not comfortable with the tactics as well.
“But I don’t see why they couldn’t question the coach because they are the ones to deliver the goods and their failure has affected the whole country,” he told Starr Sports.
