Black Stars Head Coach Charles Kwablan Akonnor says ensuring the betterment of individual national team players will remain a major priority during his tenure.

Akonnor, a former Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak Coach was appointed boss of the senior national football team earlier this year following the expiration of the contract of former Coach James Kwasi Appiah.

He was set to make his bow as the team’s head coach months ago until the CoronaVirus struck.

With the COVID-19 pandemic causing football to be on break and uncertainty surrounding when international matches can resume, C.K. Akonnor is still focused on how he can help improve the team he captained as a player.

In an interview on the Citi TV’s Football Made in Ghana Show, he captured that working on improving individual players remains a key goal.

“I am looking forward to try as much as much as I can to improve individual players and of course once I do that, I improve the team,” he told Citi TV.

“The team gets an improvement, it affects their play.

“That is my goal…so every now and then when I am there I am thinking who can fit in in certain positions and how we can move.

“Overall I just want to improve the team,” Akonnor concluded.

C.K. Akonnor has also had stints with local clubs like Dreams FC, AshantiGold SC. He cut his umbilical cord in the coaching industry by having a sting with Sekondi Eleven Wise.
