Deputy Black Stars captain Andre Ayew has revealed he is not in a haste to become the substantive captain of the Black Stars.
In the hierarchy of the Black Stars the Swansea City star has been tipped as the potential replacement for Asamoah Gyan due to his persistent injuries of the substantive captain.
The FIFA Youth Championship winner in 2009 insists Gyan is gradually grooming him for the mantle in the near future.
“In life everything is done step by step and I have learnt a lot about the captaincy. From Stephen Appiah, John Mensah and today Asamoah Gyan and I think those are people in the Black Stars for long.
“But in 2017 I will be 10 years [with the team] and I have also kept long in the team and have captained before when Asamoah is not around. He (Gyan) is grooming for a takeover,” he told Starr Sports.
