Black Stars central defence is weak – Frimpong Manso

Stephen Frimpong Manso, head coach of newly promoted Brong Ahafo United, has said the Black Stars have challenges with the central defence department hence the need for urgent attention.

Speaking in an interview, Frimpong Manso said, the performance of the defence in the last few matches gives credence to the fact, that, the team was lacking in central defence.

According to Frimpong Manso, the challenge was evident in the game against Guinea, hence the last minute equaliser from the West African neighbours. He said there were several inconsistencies in the central defence due to the frequent change of personnel.

“Over the years, we had John Boye, pairing with John Mensah, or Isaac Vorsah pairing with Mensah. The pairing has gone on for long, but we no longer have those materials in the team again, so we have to build a new partnership,” he stated.

Frimpong Manso, said, the problem can be solved but require time, since the players have to play to together for a long time before getting to know each other.

“We cannot solve the problem in a single match. We need to embark on series of experiments with players before getting solution to the problem.

“The players need to player together and understand each other before we can overcome the challenge,” Frimpong Mansa stated.

Frimpong Manso was one time stalwart of Kumasi Asante Kotoko and the Black Stars.
