A huge midfield battle is expected on Saturday when Ghana duo of Thomas Partey and Mubarak Wakaso clash in the Spanish La Liga as Deportivo Alaves take on Atletico Madrid just few days after they both played on the same side.
The two players were in action for the Black Stars last week when they defeated Kenya 1-0 during the final African Cup of Nations qualifying match in Accra.
But they went their separate ways this week when they returned to their clubs and they will be on the opposite side of each other in the La Liga match.
Partey's ?Atletico head to the Basque country to face Alaves with a much needed three points at stake.
?Atletico are now 10 points behind league leaders Barcelona following their 2-0 defeat to Athletic Bilbao before the international break.
Wakaso has joined his Deportivo Alaves in training after helping Ghana qualify for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
Wakaso was one of three Alaves players that were in action during the international break.
The 28-year-old joined the rest of the team on Thursday morning at the Ibaia training centre as they sharpen the rough edges ahead of the clash against Atlético Madrid on Saturday.
Midfielder Takashi Inui and Guillermo Maripán played for Japan and Chile respectively during the break.
However, it was Wakaso and Inui who were able to return on time to partake in training.
Wakaso is enjoying another staller season with the Madrid-based side, after making 20 league appearances, providing one assist.
Alaves are enjoying a fantastic season sitting fifth in ?La Liga table and are currently on a run of six games without defeat.
Babazorros should provide ?Atletico a tough task to overcome in what could be an enticing fixture.
