Ghana has moved up four places in the latest FIFA ranking after the Black Stars secured back-to-back wins in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
The spring has elevated Ghana to 64th in the world and 12th in Africa, surpassing Cape Verde and Burkina Faso, who had overtaken Ghana after the 2023 AFCON campaign.
Before the AFCON, Ghana was ranked 61st in the world and 11th in Africa, as indicated by rankings released in September 2023.
During the AFCON, the Black Stars were unable to progress beyond the group stage, accumulating two points from one loss and two draws.
However, victories against Mali and the Central African Republic in June have propelled the four-time African champions upwards in the rankings.
In contrast, Nigeria has fallen to fifth place after failing to secure a win in their two June matches.
At the top of the Africa rankings, Morocco holds the lead, with Senegal, Egypt, and Ivory Coast rounding out the top four spots.
