Black Stars players get $25,000 gift from Edusei Foundation

Ghana’s preparation for the 2014 World Cup was boosted by $25,000 donation to the players by the Edusei Foundation in Miami on Friday night.

The donation was presented to the players at a ceremony by H.E. Kwame Bawuah Edusei, the President of the Edusei Foundation, an organization that supports youth empowerment.

Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan received the cash donation on behalf of the players with coach Kwesi Appiah in support.

H.E. Edusei, a former Ghana ambassador to the United States, said the donation is meant to encourage the Black Stars to excel at the World Cup in Brazil.

“Our foundation saw it necessary to donate this amount of money to the Black Stars to help in a small way in encouraging you to go success at the World Cup,” H.E. Edusei told the players.

“Our foundation supports youth empowerment and you are the best example of what the power of the youth in Ghana can do for our country.

“You have made us proud in many many times and for that you deserve a push.

“The people of Ghana want you to do better and this is our widow’s mite in helping you to reach that goal. We have absolute confidence in you.”

Gyan expressed his gratitude to the Edusei Foundation adding that their donation shows that all Ghanaians are interested in the progress of the Black Stars.

“We are very grateful to H.E. Edusei and his foundation for this donation. This shows that Ghanaians are very supportive of what the Black Stars do and want us to do well,” Gyan said.

“We want to assure you that we will go on the pitch to die for our country and make all of us proud. It is true that the Black Stars mirror the spirit of the youth in Ghana so we will not relent.

“We will fight in Brazil to make Ghana proud. We are very grateful.”

Ghana Football Association President Kwesi Nyantakyi and Black Stars coach Kwesi Appiah joined in to express gratitude to the Edusei Foundation.
