Head coach of the Black Stars, James Kwasi Appiah has revealed that his players were heavily disappointed following their defeat to Kenya in their 2019 Africa Cup of Nations Cup qualifier.

A first-half own goal by Ghana defender Nicholas Opoku was all the Harambee Stars needed to register their first 3 points in the qualifiers. The Black Stars did their best to salvage a point but were unproductive upfront after several opportunities.

Rendering his thoughts a week after the loss, Kwasi Appiah told Ghanaweb’s Sports Editor, Daniel Oduro on Sports Check that the Black Stars were saddened by the results. He asserted that the players displayed a calm attitude in the locker room and even refused to take their shower after the game.

“After the game all the players were so much disappointed none of them went in there to take a shower, they all sat down and when we got to the hotel they went to their rooms,” Kwasi Appiah said.

The Ghanaian gaffer expressed satisfaction at the reaction of his players and believes the players have learned the positives out of their defeat and hopefully they won’t write-off their opponents next time.

“I think it’s good because now football is not like those day that you say this country is not good or I will by all means score or win the game,” Kwasi Appiah stated on Ghanaweb TV.

Ghana would host Serria Leon in their next game in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations Cup qualifier on October 9th 2018.
