Black Stars to play two friendly matches in June

The Black Stars will be engaged in two friendly matches in June this year as the team keep themselves active having missed out on a chance to play in the FIFA World Cup.

Ghana, after three successive World Cup appearances failed to qualify for this year’s competition in Russia.

As part of the Ghana Football Association’s attempt to keep the team active, there are two friendly matches in line for the side with Cote d’ Ivoire and Iceland named as possible opponents.

Vice President of the Ghana Football Association, George Afriyie confirms his outfit have completed and agreed to have two team play two matches in June with a yet to be named opponents.

“We initially received some proposals to play some matches in match but we couldn’t,” Vice President George Afriyie told Kumasi-based Oyerepa FM.

“But I can tell you now that we have agreed with two teams hence we will be playing them in an international friendly in June.

“For now we cannot reveal these teams but we will soon communicate that to the public.”

The test matches is also aimed at helping the team move up on the FIFA ranking.

Coach Kwesi Appiah and his charges will be without any official match until September this year when they take on Kenya in a Cup of Nations qualifier.
