Black Stars won't play friendly match before Egypt tie - GFA

The Black Stars will not engage in any friendly match before facing Egypt in the return leg of the World Cup play-off, FA spokesman Ibrahim Sannie-Daara has confirmed.

The Ghanaians are scheduled to travel to a yet to be confirmed venue to play the return fixture after thrashing the Egyptians 6-1 during the first leg tie in Kumasi two weeks ago.

The Pharaohs have lined up a friendly against 2012 African champions Zambian on November 14, just four days before they face the West African powerhouse.

But Ghana FA spokesman Ibrahim Sannie-Daara has ruled out the possibility of engaging any side ahead of the game next month.

“We don’t have any plans of playing any friendly match,” Daara is quoted by Radio XYZ as saying.

“Most of our players are based in Europe, they would have played the weekend before the match and we think any exercise in playing any competitive friendly match might be detrimental to our aspirations.

“We can get a mild preparation with a lower division side because it helps in team tactics and confidence.

“I can confidently say that we will not play any friendly match before the game against the Egyptians.”
