Ghana international Richmond Yiadom Boakye of Roda JC Kerkrade has been given a two-match ban by the Royal Netherlands Football Association.
A disciplinary body on Wednesday handed the 22-year-old striker a retrospective suspension for elbowing Feyenoord defender Rick Karsdorp in an Eredivisie clash at the Parkstad Limburg Stadium on Sunday.
Boakye was making his debut for the club after completing a season-long loan on the final day of the summer transfer window from Italian side Atalanta.
The Black Star played fulltime and was voted by fans as Man of the Match following an impressive outing.
The former Genoa player missed his side’s 3-0 win at De Treffers in the Dutch Cup on Wednesday and will further be out of action in the Eredivisie clash with FC Twente on Sunday.
However, he is expected to be back in time for Roda’s home encounter with Cambuur on October 3.
Boakye joined the Miners in August, having struggled to command a regular starting spot at Atalanta, making 19 appearances and scoring three times as the club finished 17th last season.
He had previously had loan spells with Sassuolo and Spanish side Elche, scoring six times in 31 in La Liga appearances.
Boakye scored in Ghana’s 3-2 win over Congo in an exhibition game on September 1.
