Accra, Nov. 21, GNA - The 13th Annual Bok Nam Kim Memorial Open Golf Championship will tee off at the Bok Nam Kim Golf Course at the Air Force Officers Mess in Accra on Saturday, November 22. Colonel Alex Johnson, Captain of the Bok Nam Kim Golf Club who announced in Accra on Friday, said the 18-Hole Medal Play Championship is open to both amateur and professional golfers throughout the country. He said the championship was aimed at paying tribute and in memory of the late Bok Nam Kim, a keen sports enthusiast who single-handedly sponsored the Ghana contingent to the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul, Korea, but died later in the 1995.
The Captain said Mr Kim, who was also the former President of the Tema Country Golf Club was also one time Chief Executive Officer of Afko Group of Companies.
Col. Johnson said the event, which would be played under the local rules of the Bok Nam Kim Golf Club and the rules of the Ghana Golf Association, would be sponsored by Afko Group of Companies. Among an array of golfers expected to be seen in action include Group Captain K.K. Pumpuni, Colonel Ashiagbor, Dan Dennis, Paul List and Daniel List.
Mrs Y. O. Kim, Chief Executive Officer of the Afko Group of Companies would be the Special Guest of Honour.
