Bonhof set for Ghana job

Former Germany midfielder Rainer Bonhof is in line to take over as Ghana's coach for the 2002 World Cup qualifiers.

Bonhof, 47, one of the stars of West Germany's 1974 World Cup winners, has flown to Accra to discuss terms with Ghana FA officials.

Bonhof is widely experienced at international level. He was assistant to Berti Vogts when his old Monchengladbach colleague was Germany's national coach.

Bonhof is also familiar with many of Ghana's star players. Most of them play in European football, including defender Sammy Kuffour (Bayern Munich) and striker Tony Yeboah (Hamburg) from the Bundesliga.
