Boxers Shake Oguaa Today

The Cape Coast township will roar to the excitement of boxing today when boxers from Accra ambush their Cape Coast counterparts in a special tournament. The programme, scheduled for the Top Yard Cinema Hall, will feature Nana Benya Bee of Cape Coast versus Samuel Addo-Teye in a super bantamweight contest.

In a five-bout undercard featuring amateurs, Frank Zoya of Cape Coast fights Randy Lartey in the featherweight class while Solomon Nkrumah also of Cape Coast takes on Odarlai Lamptey in a lightweight contest.Tuley Ade of Cape Coast and Isaac Selom come up in the bantamweight division, Peter Chubby of Cape Coast fights Jacob Otoo in the bantamweight while Emmanuel Halm faces Baba Iddrisu of Accra in the welterweight division.

Four juvenile boxers from the Fit Square gym in Accra ? Ransford Lartey, Kobby Joe, Jarrey Lartey and Jacob Clottey ? will entertain in exhibition shows before the main bouts.The clash between the two cities, which attracts ?15,000 and ?10,000 for ringside and popular stand respectively, will be just another in a series of encounters arranged between them in recent imes.

The bill, which has been put together by Walter-King Promotions and Management Syndicate of Cape Coast, will see former WBA welterweight champion, Ike Quartey, on ringside together with his trainer, Oko Odamteng, as well as acting GBA Chairman, Moses Foh-Amoaning.

Mr Twintoh Waler, Executive Director of Wlaker-King Promotions, expressed hope that the Central Region will produce a top class boxer sooner than later.
