Boye: I’ll be special at World Cup

Ghana defender John Boye believes playing at the World Cup will make him a better player.

The 27-year-old, who had a season blighted by knee injuries at Rennes, is eyeing a permanent place in Ghana’s squad after making the 26-man provisional panel. He is hoping to use the global football fiesta to woo more suitors as his contract at Rennes ends this summer.

“You know, all players dream of playing in the Champions League, World Cup... This is a great opportunity for me. I am very pleased to have the opportunity to participate in the World Cup. It’ll make me a special player,” Boye told L'Equipe.

“It is not everyone who will have the opportunity to play at the World Cup during his career.”

Boye is optimistic that the Black Stars can reach the semi-finals at Brazil 2014.

“Our dream is to reach the semi-finals as no African team has done that before. For the trophy France and Brazil are good teams but Germany can win it,” Boye opined.
