Suncity Braves have reclaimed top spot in the ongoing 2017-2018 Global Sporting Platform (GSP) Basketball League following a win over University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR).
Braves clinched a 45-30 win over UENR in Week 11’s headlining game which took place at the Eusbett Court in Sunyani on Saturday, April 7.
The tie as the final of four games played at the venue and the fixture lived up to the hype with both teams throwing themselves at the game for a win.
League leaders and defending champions UENR started off well by claiming a 20-10 first-half lead but Braves turned the tie around with a brilliant second half.
Braves scored 15-8 and 15-7 leads in the third and fourth quarters respectively to clinch its ninth win of the season.
UENR falls to second but tied with Braves on 20 points; Suncity clinched the 2016-2017 league title but lost out on a second straight title win to UENR last season.
UENR is up against West Siders later today while Braves take on Sunyani Technical University. CUCG Saints play Desert Rabbits and Barracks Scorpions opens Week 12’s games against LIR Royals.
