Ghana goalkeeper Razak Brimah has welcomed the stiff competition at his new club Cordoba CF in the Spanish Segunda Division.
The 28-year-old spent the 2014 / 2015 season at Mirandes but last month returned to Cordoba, where he played one full season in 2013 / 2014.
Brimah must fend off competition from fellow goalkeepers Antonio Sillero and Juan Carlos Martin to maintain his number one position in the team.
“It’s not easy being the only black person amongst the whites. If you are challenging with another goalkeeper, you have to do more like thousand times better than him or else you are not going to play,” Brimah told Starr FM.
The former Tenerife goalkeeper is anxious to land a permanent role in the team to help him maintain his place in the Black Stars squad ahead of the remaining matches of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
“It’s a huge challenge for me but I’m going to put in much effort to come on top. I need to be playing regularly at my club to maintain my status with the Black Stars ahead of the Afcon qualifiers.
“I know with a bit of luck and hard work, my effort will pay off,” he added.
Brimah has made 10 appearances for Ghana.
