British Council Soccer Tournament at Maamobi

Accra, Oct 13, GNA - The Young Leaders' of Dreams and Teams, a British Council sports initiative, will organise a one day football tournament at the Maamobi Community Parks in Accra on Thursday, October 20, 2005 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Dubbed the 2010 Africa Dreams Festival in relation to South Africa 2010 World Cup, the tournament will "highlight the dreams that young people have for the future, giving them a platform at the world's biggest sport event."

A release from the British Council signed by Ambrose Nazzah, Dream and Teams Comminity Co-ordinator said the event, which would be planned, organised and delivered by young boys and girls would be held in other African countries including Nigeria, Zambia and South Africa on the same day.

It said many distinguished personalities including the South African High Commissioner, the Chairman of the Ghana Football Association and the British Country Director and some local football stars had been invited to grace the occasion. Dreams and Teams aims to develop leadership and cross-cultural awareness in young people around the world, through sports and international educational links. Ghana is one of the over 30 countries currently involved in the programme.
