Former Board Member of Accra Hearts of Oak, Ernest Thompson has noted that the club is unable to sign good players these days because it has a weak financial base.
Gone are the days when the Phobians boasted of the top players in the country as they dominated the local league and also excelled when participating in CAF’s inter-club competitions.
Nowadays, the team’s players are mostly tagged as substandard with the few good ones unable to be compared with past great players.
Speaking to Nhyira FM, Ernest Thompson says he believes the club’s weak financial base does not allow them to sign top players.
“Hearts of Oak has a weak financial base and that is what stops the team from going for good players, which is bad”, he said.
Hearts of Oak is currently being financed by Togbe Afede XIV who owns the majority of the shares of the club.
