Brong-Ahafo 2nd Division League begins in Sunyani

The first group of this year’s three-grouped Brong-Ahafo Second Division preliminary sub-middle football gala competition started at the Sunyani Coronation Park on Wednesday.

The 10 participating teams are representing the first of the three-grouped team competition who proved their mettle during the preliminary stages of the Regional League in their respective zones.

With the programme set up by the Regional Football Association (RFA), the two other groups would also assemble at the same venue (Coronation Park, Sunyani) to fight for honours at a date to be announced later; which is geared towards the next regional super zonal competition to select a team for promotion for the Regional First Division League for the 2012/2013 league season.

In the “Group 1A” matches, Nkra-nkwanta Alharam F/C who were beaten 0-2 by Berekum Raja F/C in the “Zone 1A” pairings, played a well determined game in their second outing of the all-play-all encounter to beat Japekrom Mpuasuman 1-0 with Collins Amankwaah of Alharam scoring the only goal of the match.

A rejuvenated Mpuasuman side approached their second match with Wamanafo Mighty Royals and had a split goalless drawn game while Biadan Barcelona F/C thrashed Berekum Raja 2-0.

In the “Zone 1B” encounter, Seikwa Nkoranman bowed 0-2 to Senase Adwinpa F/C, Debiso Royals defeated Asuowam F/C 1-0, Sampa United succumbed 0-1 to Adwinpa and Royals played 2-2 with Nkoranman.

In the same pairing, Sampa United after winning 1-0 over Asuowam F/C maintained their standard and scored 2-0 against Debiso while Mighty Royals thrashed Alharam 4-0, with Asuowam also white-washing Nkoranman 3-0.

The competition continues.**
