Ghanaian Boxer, Braimah Kamoko, popularly known as Bukom Banku, who is accused of assaulting three women would soon be arraigned before court to answer charges being leveled against him. Meanwhile the professional boxer who was arrested on Tuesday by the police was on Wednesday granted bail by the Accra Central Police.
It is alleged that Bukom Banku assaulted the women after one of them rejected his request for sex.
Public Relations Officer of the Accra Regional Police Command, ASP Afia Tenge in an interview, said they are still investigating the case and will soon arraign him.
She said the Police Regional Office “had a complaint from three ladies of them being allegedly assaulted by Bukom Banku.”
“So we got him arrested and later granted him bail in the sum of GHc5, 000 and also with two sureties. We are still investigating the incident and very soon when investigations are over, we shall process him for court.
The case has even been registered already at the court and we hope that we will be done with our investigations and we shall take it from there,” she added.
Bukom Banku arrested in 2015 Bukom Banku has been in the news lately for the wrong reasons. He was arrested in January 2015 for allegedly inflicting physical harm on some persons after a disagreement at the ‘Kpashimo’ procession at Gbese in Accra.
Bukom Banku who has reportedly been a willing participant of the ceremony over the years, opposed the ceremony following news that the procession had intended to sing against the boxer’s fetish priestess wife, Amoah Woyoo, also known by her fetish name as Ohua Broni.
The ‘Kpashimo’ procession was, however, unwilling to have their annual ritual undermined by the boxer, resulting in the reported fracas.
On learning about what Bukom Banku allegedly did to the three women some people are asking the Ghana Boxing Authority to confiscate his boxing license while others say he must be jailed as done to other such boxers abroad to serve as deterrent to other boxers and celebrities in Ghana
