Black Stars coach Charles Kwablan Akonnor says Ghana lost to South Africa in the semi final of the Nations Cup in 96 because they were morally deflated.

According to Akonnor, the Black Stars were demoralized after seeing the South African's prematch 'jama'.

The Bafana Bafana were on top of their voices singing and drumming, leaving the Black Stars crestfallen. South African ended winning the game 3-0, going on to win the competition on home soil.

”We started singing before the game, while the South Africans were in the dressing room," he told Citi Tv's Football Made in Ghana Show.

”Then all of a sudden they came out and also started singing. I’m telling you that we lost the match there even before taking the field.

”It’s not like we kept quiet when they started, but theirs just overshadowed ours.

”It was so well coordinated,” he added.

Ghana are four times champions of the Nations Cup but have not won the competition since 1982.
