Kumasi Asante Kotoko goalkeeper Felix Annan has stressed that the team is excited after securing a place in the second round of this year’s CAF Champions League competition.
The Porcupine Warriors pulled off an impressive 2-0 win at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday afternoon after hosting Nigerian club Kano Pillars in the second leg of the first round of the top-tier competition.
The emphatic win saw the Kumasi based side emerging as 4-3 winners on aggregate at the end of the tie to propel them into the next round of the continental showpiece.
Speaking in a post-match interview, Felix Annan has noted that the team is pleased with the feat because it has always been their target since beginning their journey in this year’s CAF Champions League,
“This is what we have always wanted. We got the experience from last season and it was something special. So for us to qualify to the next round is really exciting for us”.
“We are really happy that we are going to the next round because it would have been a big blow if we couldn’t qualify because the expectation was really high and looking at the fans if you don’t win for them you as a footballer it feels your job hasn’t been done”, Annan said.
Kotoko is now set to face Tunisia side Etoile du Sahel in the second round of the CAF Champions League.
