CAF CL: We’ll rub shoulders with Victoria United - Samartex coach

FC Samartex head coach, Nurudeen Amadu has praised their opponents in the 2024/25 CAF Champions League as a team that plays good possessive football.

The Timber Giants' first and second leg matches against Victoria United in the first preliminary round of the CAF Champions League are scheduled for August 16 and 25, 2024.

The team will travel to Cameroon for the first leg before returning home for the second leg.

Assessing their opponents ahead of the tie, Amadu was very humble about their chances.

“They are a good side. Fortunately for both of us, this is our first time playing in Africa. We are all debutants, so we are going to rub shoulders with each other," he told Joy Sports.

“Watching their games, they are a good side. They try to possess and play from the back. And so going on those days when we used to know Cameroon players, they were very physical, but now they are playing good football. And so we have started to at least adapt some strategies going forward.

“We still have about, let's say, three weeks. And so I think that we should be able to manage them.”

Samartex are set to compete in the 2024/25 CAF Champions League after winning the Ghana Premier League last season in only their second campaign.
