FC Samartex 1996 achieved a vital 1-0 away win against Cameroonian champions Victoria United in the first leg of the CAF Champions League qualifier at Japoma Stadium in Douala.

The match's only goal came in the second half when Emmanuel Mamah scored with a powerful header from a corner kick, giving the Ghanaian team a crucial edge for the return leg.

Head coach Nurudeen Amadu selected a strong lineup featuring Kofi Baah as the goalkeeper and Ebenezer Acquah as the captain.

Victoria United dominated the early stages of the match but failed to create significant threats to Samartex's defence.

As the game progressed, Samartex gained control and dominated possession, though they couldn't capitalize on their chances in the first half.

After halftime, Samartex increased their attacking efforts, which eventually led to Mamah's decisive goal.

Both teams battled intensely in the final minutes, but Samartex secured the victory.

Samartex aims to complete the job in the return leg on August 25, 2024, at the Accra Sports Stadium.
