Ghanaian playmaker Augustine Okrah is 'deeply hurt' by Al Merreikh's 2016 CAF Champions League exit to ES Setif on the away-goal rule.
Okrah, 23, played 75 minutes in Tuesday's 0-0 draw at Setif.
The tie ended 2-2 on aggregate but Setif advanced, having scored twice away from home.
Okrah told GHANASocrenet.com on arrival in Sudan Thursday morning: "We had a fantastic 2015 when we made the semis. The natural progression would've been the grand final this season.
"Qualifying for the Group phase means a lot to our fans. It deeply hurts when you fail to make the fans happy."
The 22-year playmaker is added: "Sometimes you've to be luck. We weren't lucky this time around because we played very well and deserve to qualify."
Okrah has scored 5 and assisted four goals in 9 matches this season in the Sudanese top flight.
Al-Merrikh drawn Moroccan side Kawkab Marrakech in the CAF Confederation Cup play-off stage next month.
