Asante Kotoko winger, Emmanuel Gyamfi says not conceding in the first leg tie of the CAF Confederation Cup playoff against San Pedro of Ivory Coast is a giant step toward achieving their aim of securing a group stage berth.

The speedster, however admitted that, it was a difficult game with loads of nerves. He remains confident that, the Porcupines will get a goal which will ensure their progress.

“It wasn’t an easy game” he said. “However, every win is important. It’s a plus that we didn’t concede. We are confident about our progress despite the 1-0 win we have had in Kumasi. We will definitely have a goal away and qualify to the next stage.”

The Porcupine Warriors and their opponent played only the second half of the game on Monday afternoon as per FIFA’s new rules concerning force majeure, the game had to be continued from where it ended with all things remaining constant. With the 45 minutes elapsing without a goal, Emmanuel Gyamfi tells how nervy it felt;

“Football is played over 90 minutes. Moreover, when the added time was shown, there was still time for us to fight on and get the win. We had a target which was to make the supporters happy because they only came to the stadium for victory and thankfully, we did just that. We want to qualify and keep ourselves active so we will do whatever it takes to achieve that” he ended.
