Asante Kotoko will receive a financial bailout of US$ 150,000 from the government for reaching the Group stage of the 2018/19 CAF Confederation Cup.
This follows an announcement by the Sports Ministry that government will financially support clubs in Africa.
A Ghanaian team which progress to the money zone of the elite CAF Champions League will be cushioned with US$ 250, 000.
The Ministry of Youth and Sports released a letter on Tuesday, January 29, 2019, indicating that as part of the efforts to support Football Clubs that qualify to play in continental competitions, the Ministry of Youth and Sports on behalf of Government has decided to boost Clubs that qualify to the Group Stage of the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup competitions with an amount of Two Hundred Thousand United States Dollars ($200,000) and One Hundred and Fifty Thousand United States Dollars ($ 150,000) respectively.
The Porcupine Warriors have been drawn in Group C of CAF's second-tier inter-club competition alongside Sudanese giants Al Hilal and Zambian sides Nkana FC and ZESCO United.
Kotoko will, however, kick-off their campaign with a trip to Omdurman to engage Al Hilal on Sunday, February 3.
