The Executive Chairman of Kumasi Asante Kotoko Football Club, Dr Kwame Kyei, has given an assurance of his commitment to support both the technical team and playing body of the club to go all out in their quest to win the CAF Confederation Cup.
He said winning the ultimate trophy would be an honour to the Asante Kingdom in particular and the nation in general.
Debunking speculations that he (Dr Kyei) and coach Charles Kwabla Akonnor were likely to part ways at a time that the club was battling to secure a place in the quarter-final stage of the CAF Confederation Cup tournament, he said he had never dreamt of severing the relationship with the coach.
“I am just hearing this news from a section of the media. At this stage, we are so much focused on how to qualify for the next stage of the competition so there is no room for any kind of conflict between the coach and myself,” Dr Kyei assured.
He said he was honoured to take charge of Kotoko to fight for a continental trophy that had eluded the club for more than three decades, hence his commitment to do everything possible to bring the ultimate trophy to Ghana once again.
“I thank God for this opportunity and with God by my side I know that our quest to win the trophy will not elude us,” he noted.
