FC San Pedro General Manager Abid Haythem is relishing the chance to test themselves in the CAF Confederations Cup Play-off match against Asante Kotoko.
The Porcupine Warriors were drawn against the 2019 Coupe de Cote d’Ivoire champions with the first and second leg set to take place on October 27 and November 3 in Kumasi and Abidjan respectively.
Speaking with Light FM in Kumasi, Abid Haythen was aware of Kotoko’s pedigree in Africa but is convinced that will not deter their ambition to beat Kotoko and make group stage qualification.
“We had a little bit of fear when we saw we have been drawn with Asante Kotoko checking their clouds in African football. We are a small club but everything is possible in football.
Our ambition is to climb this round to the group stages of the CAF Confederations Cup. We know Asante Kotoko is a big Club in Africa with so much experience and pedigree but we are coming to beat them.”
FC San Pedro uses the Stade Auguste Denise San-Pedro, a multi-purpose stadium. However, the general manager has confirmed the second leg will be played in Abidjan.
“The second leg fixture of our game against Kotoko will be played in Abidjan not San Pedro.”
