CAF Confederations Cup: Aduana Stars held by Raja Casablanca in six-goal thriller

Aduana Stars have one point from two games Aduana Stars have one point from two games

Aduana Stars recorded a dramatic 3-3 draw with Raja Casablanca at the Nana Agyemang Badu II Park in the CAF Confederations Cup on Wednesday afternoon.

The Ghanaian champions had to rely on a late equaliser from Nathaniel Asamoah to get back into the game, having fallen behind three times to Raja.

The Moroccan giants stunned Aduana when they took an 11th-minute lead through Mahmoud Benhalib, following some poor defending from the home side.

The Fire Boys, however, refused to back down and immediately drew level 10 minutes later through Congolese import Oba Ikama who blasted home from a cross.

Aduana continued to press, but a combination of poor defending and profligacy upfront saw them go 2-1 down after Mabidi Lema slotted home for Raja towards the end of the first half.

The second half began in similar fashion with Aduana dictating play right from the blast of the whistle. The efforts of the Dormaa side was rewarded two minutes into the restart, with Caleb Amankwah making the score line 2-2.

However, the Moroccans went ahead again through Mahmoud Benhalib, who was left unmarked to curl home in the 61st minute.

There was more drama, though, as Nathaniel Asamoah netted deep in stoppage time to hand Aduana a hard-fought 3-3 draw.

The result leaves Aduana bottom of Group A, with AS Vita and Raja Casablanca occupying top spot, whiles ASEC mimosa sit in third.
