CAF Rep Inspects Facilities At Obuasi

Following the closure of two prestigious national Stadia, Accra and Kumasi for renovation works; Obuasi Len Clay Sports Stadium has been eyed by CAF for future soccer matches. Mr. Abel Mbengue who is the representative of CAF alongside Mr. Kofi Nsiah, the General Secretary of GFA and other personalities on Tuesday 23rd August 2005 visited Obuasi and inspected the facilities available at the Len Clay and Ofori Sports Stadia.

Mr. Mbengue and his entourage were taken rounds the Stadia and other hotels and are expected to forward their reports to the higher CAF authorities for the final decision. Though Mr. Mbengue was of high praise to AshantiGold for such an excellent facilities at their premises, he reiterated that the final decision would come from his superiors.

The inspection team also paid homage to the Municipal Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Kojo Boampong at his office to unveil their mission. He also expressed his appreciation and welcomed the idea as a laudable one that would be beneficial to Obuasi and Adansi as a whole. He assured them of the Municipal?s total assistance to make the dream a reality. Mr. Mbengue did not mince words by enumerating some of the set backs like bad state of roads leading to the hotels and general comportment of the commercial drivers at Obuasi. Meanwhile, the MCE has hinted to set up a committee that will coordinate with AshantiGold and Municipal Sports Council to achieve the expectations of CAF and GFA.
