Shanghia, China, Sept 17, GNA - Fred Crentsil, Chairman of the Management Committee of Ghana' Black Queens has accused the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for doing nothing towards the growth of women's football on the continent.
"CAF has done nothing for women's football in Africa." Crentsil told GNA Sports in Shanghia where the Queens are billed against Norway in their last Group C game of the FIFA Women's World Cup on Wednesday that, CAF's perpetual excuse is the typical lack of money syndrome.
The Chairman said Africa has lots of catching up to do to enable her get to the desired World Cup standard.
The Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) is considering increasing the number of participating teams from 16 to 24 and Africa might improve on the current two representations. Crentsil however told GNA Sports that the continent does not deserve extra slots.
"Africa is not there yet and I candidly believe we do not deserve any more slots. Our performance is there to show."
Africa is represented at the Women's FIFA World Cup by Ghana's Black Queens and the once dreaded Super Falcons of Nigeria.
Ghana, making her third appearance remains the only African nation to have won a game at the quadrennial event even though the Nigerians have played in all five World Cups.
The Queens in 2003 defeated Australia 2-1 in a final group game to register that record.
Ghana is still chasing a point after two games whilst Nigeria started their campaign on their best ever with a one all drawn game against Sweden in their opening game before lousily losing 0-2 to North Korea three days on.
Whilst Ghana has no chance of survival even before their last group game with Norway in Shanghia on Wednesday, Nigeria could be the first African to get into the round of eight if they can convincingly win their match when they meet the United States of America who share the top spot in Group B with the Koreans on four points.
