Charles Kwabla Akonnor, the former coach of Ghana's national team, has embarked on a new journey as a consultant for the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

While the full extent of his duties remains undisclosed, it is anticipated that Akonnor will lend his expertise during an important assembly of football delegates from throughout Africa.

This pivotal conference, taking place in Tanzania, is set to deliberate on the progression of youth football. Akonnor's appointment as CAF consultant marks his return to a prominent role in football governance since his tenure as Ghana's coach from January 2020 to September 2021.

Akonnor had not taken up any significant positions until this recent appointment. His storied career is distinguished by his leadership of top Ghanaian football clubs, such as Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko.

Notably, his time at Kotoko was marked by triumph in the Normalization Committee Special Competition and progression to the group stages of the CAF Confederation Cup.

Akonnor also had a stint as the Technical Director for the Division One team, Accra Athletic FC.

As the Tanzanian summit unfolds, further details about Akonnor's role with CAF are expected to surface, highlighting the importance of his contribution to the meeting.
