Black Stars head coach, Charles Akonnor has decided to waive off the debt owed him by Kumasi Asante Kotoko, reports reaching footballghana.com has revealed.
The fast-rising tactician was appointed as the head coach for the Porcupine Warriors in 2018 on a three-year contract following a successful spell with Obuasi Ashanti Gold.
In his first year, he was shown the exit door in bizarre circumstances when the club recruited expatriate coach Kjetil Zachariassen while trying to make him the technical director of the club.
Unenthused about the new role, Coach CK Akonnor agreed to leave his post but asked for compensation.
With the club not ready to pay, the gaffer dragged them before the Statutes Committee and managed to win his case as Kotoko was directed to pay a compensation of $34,000.
Months after the Ghanaian giants failed to pay the debt, Kumasi-based Oyerepa FM is reporting that the coach has decided to collect the initial amount he requested before the legal tussle after meeting with Board member Alhaji Lamin.
The Asante Kotoko board member is expected to inform the new board on Thursday when they hold their second meeting.
